Mm. In college, I got exposed and connected to a number of venture capital firms and that got me involved with start ups and early stage companies. So from there I got heavily exposed on the financing side as well and went down that path and then learned that actually, I appreciated the business side more so I attended to focus on that side of the business. Um, so let's see what else I've kind of done a little bit of everything. Maybe I jaded my experience by having executive roles in early stage companies early on, Um, but yeah. So I kind of started out with a start up after finance. And then today I run a product and engineering team, but it's because I learned how to lead and
Well, with the Rhona, we don't travel at all anymore. Um, so the last 15 years, I've worked remote, um, my from home. So that's that's pretty normal for me now. Um, weekly hours. I tend to work with a lot of teams that are offshore. So my hours air all over the place. Um, again, it's something that you just kind of got to learn how to manage through and get through it. It's not abnormal for me to have a 60 70 80 hour week on occasion, depending what we're pushing out or what's being worked on. But at the same time, that comes with liberties and responsibilities, right? Aiken, I can kick off and take a to three day, four day weekend if I want and need to. And all the work's done. Um, we'll see what else responsibilities and decisions. So I think the thing that um was over emphasized in school and under emphasized in professional life was the ability to communicate. Um, like I can. I can run a spreadsheet faster better than most of my colleagues, but that really doesn't matter, right? Because we spend our days in slack and in email, so How can I interact with them? When's the right time to pick up the phone? When's the right time to do this? How to negotiate, um, to a common win or a common goal? Those air kind of the missing things that I spend a huge chunk of my time doing.
challenges. I think most of the challenges are human. Resource related, Right? So managing through that, um, managing the expectations properly, communicating the expectations. So again, in in kind of this engineering product hybrid role that I interact with, we deal with a lot of communications. You got engineers, I think hyper pragmatically. And you've got a business that has a need. Um, so you kind of have to bridge that gap and make sure that side a understands what side B wants and side B needs to understand what reality is given the parameters.
