Thank you for inviting me. I'm from China, I had lived in China for 24 years and then moved to the United States, at the age of 24, I went to Upenn Wharton School to study information systems and after that, I got my first job at the University of California where I worked for 3 years. Then I moved to UT Dallas. I have been at UT Dallas for 12 years now. Outside of my research, I enjoy playing tennis and playing Chinese chess, which is good. game. So, those are the things I do outside my research.
So my undergraduate actually is in Information systems. I was in the first batch of students back in China, more than twenty years ago, to study information systems. And then when I moved to a graduate school, I actually had a degree in Industrial engineering, what they call industrial management engineering. After that I went to the Wharton School, my major was also in Information Systems, there I learned data mining now it is called business analytics.
I think I'm one of the few scholars, who switched a few research areas. As I mentioned, when I was in my PhD program, my interest was in data mining and then I worked on modeling, in theory, half of research, with someone with who I had a paper, studying the gaming behavior of players. And then around 2007-2008, I moved in empirical research, so my last ten years of research was mainly in empirical research. There I studied some recent project including shared economy, recently I also got into the area of financial technology like social trading and high-frequency trading. And most recently I'm working on a couple of projects on property like ICO.
